College interns wanted for Leadville Race Series summer race crew

Incoming or current Colorado Mountain College students looking for a way to get involved in Leadville’s running and mountain bike racing events while earning college credits may want to take advantage of an internship opportunity with the Leadville Race Series.

Cooper Mallozzi, a professor of outdoor education at CMC in Leadville, has been working with the Leadville Race Series and its organizing body, the Trail 100 Legacy Foundation, to create a partnership between the college and Leadville’s endurance race community.

Out of that partnership, CMC students who apply for an internship working with race crews during the summer can earn college credit. As a bonus, students who are not Leadville locals are eligible for housing at the college’s residence hall.

“This endeavor helps students earn credit learning transferable life skills while engaged with a community-based organization,” said Mallozzi.

Although the internships are geared for incoming CMC students, Mallozzi said that current CMC students are also welcome to apply.
