Mines of the Mineral Belt Guided Bike Tour
Colorado Mountain College’s Natural Resource Management Project Manager, Jake Mohrmann, will lead a casual, guided tour along the Mineral Belt Trail that includes several stops to learn about some of the mining history and modern land reclamation efforts.
Students must provide their own bike/helmet. Dress to be outside for approximately 4 hours rain or shine. Bring water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, and extra layers. Students must be able to bike up to one mile at a time on the paved Mineral Belt Trail, uphill and downhill between stops.
The Mineral Belt Trail is approximately 11.6 miles long and we will be covering the entirety of the trail during the 3.5 hour class. The class will depart from, and return to the Don Hix Memorial Gazebo at Colorado Mountain College Leadville Campus.
