Come snowshoe the fastest course in the state!

The 2018 Colorado Cup snowshoe and fat bike race will take place on February 10, 2018 at Colorado Mountain College in Leadville, CO. The course will be run on the groomed trails that surround CMC Leadville. This course is the fastest snowshoe course in the state. Last year’s winners ran 23:06 and 52:36 for the 5K and 10K (respectively).

The Race Schedule

The snowshoe races will include a 200 m & 400 m dash, and an 800 m & 5K & 10K run. There will be a sprint medley (200 m, 200 m, 400 m, and 800 m) at the conclusion of the 5K and 10 K races. Here is a race schedule:

  1. 9:00 AM: Fat Tire Bike Race 5K
  2. 9:05 AM: 200 m Snowshoe Dash
  3. 9:45 AM: 800 m Snowshoe Run
  4. 10:10 AM: 400 m Snowshoe Dash
  5. 10:30 AM: 5K and 10K Snowshoe Runs
  6. At the conclusion of the 5K and 10K: Medley Relay (200m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m)

New! The Colorado Cup 5K Fat Tire Bike Race

The race this year will feature a 5K fat tire bike race for the first time. The 5K bike race will follow the same course as the 5K and 10K snowshoe races. For the adventurous crowd, riders are encouraged to race in the fat tire race, refuel, strap on their snowshoes, and take on the snowshoe race afterwards.

Awards

The top three male and female riders will receive an award for the fat tire bike race. The top five high school male and female snowshoers will receive an award for the 5K. The top male and female high school teams in the 5K snowshoe race will receive an award. The top three male and female winners in the 10K will receive an award. Overall male and female winners in the sprints will receive an award.

How to register

Adult racers pay $20 and kids/students will pay $10 to register. An additional charge of $10 will be added for day-of-registers. Register online at Running Guru. All athletes will sign a waiver on race day. Racers under 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver.

Where to go?

The race will be held on the CMC Leadville campus (901 South Highway 24 Leadville, CO 80461). Park in the parking spaces on campus. Pick up race bibs in the Coronado Cafe. The race starts and ends behind the Climax Building.

Last Year’s Results

The 2017 Colorado Cup at Colorado Mountain College Leadville was well attended despite the cold temperatures. Racers traveled to CMC Leadville from as far north as Fort Collins and as far west as Grand Junction. The 5K race was won by Jared Leblow from Grand Junction and Lanie Szuch from Evergreen. The 10K race was won by Leadville’s Bryan Kerl and Evergreen’s Brandy Erholtz. Erholtz is a former snowshoe national champion and one of the all time greats in the sport of snowshoeing. View the 2017 Race Report
