CMC’s Female Fly Fishing Scholarship

The fly fishing industry is on the rise around the country. With growing interest and newcomers joining the sport, the need for qualified guides is also in demand. The Colorado Mountain College Professional Fly Fishing Guide program, based in Leadville, CO, trains the next generation of skilled fly fishing guides.

In 2018, there was one woman enrolled in the professional fly fishing guide program—Robin Schmidt. Robin is joining forces with Kaitlin Boyer, a 2017 graduate of the program to use their experience and motivate other women to join the industry.

Colorado Mountain College is committed to providing opportunities for women to enter the outdoor industry as fly fishing professionals. Orvis has generously provided in-kind fly fishing gear and products to help two women scholarship recipients enrolled in the professional fly fishing guide program summer 2019 session.

Colorado Mountain College is currently raising funds for a scholarship exclusively for women enrolled in the Summer 2019 session. Please consider donating to the female fly fishing guide fund to help CMC bring more women into the fly fishing guide profession.
