Ursula Gilgulin started painting as a young child when her parents enrolled her in art lessons at a local studio. A trained painter and designer of wall art, Ursula Gilgulin has shared her artistic talent with Colorado Mountain College students for 45 years.
She offers several non-credit Leadville community art classes that are fun, and inclusive. Students of all levels are encouraged to register, whether you’ve been painting for decades or have never picked up a brush.
“Making art and enjoying the company of like-minded persons is a joy and stimulates creativity,” says Ursula, “There are no rights and wrongs in these activities rather – fun, visual excitement and freedom of expression and camaraderie.”
Ursula’s Leadville community art classes specialize in using repurposed materials to create unique one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Her students breathe new life into old household items while exploring different creative medias with paints.
Almost any items can be used to create repurposed art wreathes and decorative folk art. A shovel or old pieces of metal can be adorned as yard art, and an old bucket can be transformed into part of a center piece.
“Art includes an aspect of adventure and discovery,” says Ursula, “Our lives are richer for the experience.”
