CMC Cross Country Running Team finding their footing through a partnership with world-renowned Leadville Race Series

Race season has officially arrived in Leadville! This weekend, hundreds of athletes will line up at Dutch Henri Hill, the start/finish line of the Leadville Race Series’ Silver Rush 50 courses, located on the northern edge of the Colorado Mountain College Leadville campus.

This year, Colorado Mountain College and the Leadville Race Series have partnered to offer on-site camping on the south end of campus. Space are $40 for the weekend ($20 per night) and all proceeds will benefit the CMC cross-country team. Additionally, all funds raised through this initiative will be matched by Life Time Fitness. Donations will be used to support the team and travel to Nationals. For more information on camping or to register, visit

“Our team is so grateful for the support that our community gives us locally and globally,” says Darren Brungardt, who coaches CMC’s XC team and running club, “The fact that racers from all over the world are supporting us is phenomenal. We would like to thank Lifetime Fitness, mountain bikers, runners, families and support crews, the Leadville community, and most importantly Colorado Mountain College Leadville for helping us.”

Colorado Mountain College’s cross-country team is new this year. The team will compete with men’s and women’s teams in the National Junior College Athletic Association. Student athletes train and learn in Leadville — the home of the legendary Leadville Race Series. CMC students from other campuses can participate by following a workout schedule online, attend virtual meetings and travel for meets.
