Mountain Meteorology Workshop hosted by the CMC Avalanche Science Program and the Colorado Avalanche Information Center
The Colorado Mountain College Avalanche Science Program, in collaboration with the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC), is offering a Mountain Meteorology Workshop, September 24-26 at the Colorado Mountain College campus in Leadville, CO.
This three-day course is open to the public and designed for avalanche practitioners and avid recreationalists. Anyone interested in mountain weather phenomena is welcome to attend, and no previous meteorological education is required.
Participants will interact with experienced weather forecasters and work in small groups to generate and present their own forecasts. A laptop computer with wireless capability is required.
The course will run daily from 8AM to 5PM, with a lunch break. Morning sessions will provide a basic understanding of meteorological principles applied to weather in mountainous areas. Afternoon sessions will focus on using publicly available weather information to create a local forecast. More information will be emailed to registrants prior to the start of the workshop.
The cost is $350 to attend and registration is now open online at https://coloradomtn.edu/community-education/
